Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” Acts 6:2-4

In the Beginning…
The early church in the Book of Acts began with men of God such as the apostles Peter, Paul, and their followers who had a calling and appointment by God to preach the Gospel.

TRUTH #1:
WE MUST BUILD WISELY –- ON THE FOUNDATION

“According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 3:10,11

•• Without compromising absolute truth
•• Without fearing appropriate changes
•• Without backing down from challenges

TRUTH #2:
WE MUST BUILD WITHOUT WASTING - NOT IN VAIN

• Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.
Psalms 127:1

•• By His Spirit and grace
•• By His instructions
•• By His Strength

TRUTH #3:
WE MUST BUILD WELL - TO PLEASE HIM

• For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10

•• He is the one we aim to please
•• He is the preferred "customer"
•• He is the one that matters

TRUTH #4:
WE MUST BUILD WIDELY - THE WORLD IS OUR FIELD

• But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 1:8

•• Looking beyond ourselves
•• Looking beyond our own churches
•• Looking beyond our own culture

TRUTH #5:
WE MUST BUILD WALL-TO-WALL GOD WANTS HIS HOUSE TO BE FULL

• And the lord said unto the servant, Go out in to the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
Luke 14:23

•• Everyone is a sinner
•• Everyone must repent
•• Everyone can call on Him

TRUTH #6:
WE MUST BUILD WATCHFULLY - WITH WEAPON IN HAND
" They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burden, with those that lade , [every one] with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other [hand] held a weapon.
Nehemiah 14:7

•• Able to work together
•• Able to identify the enemy
•• Able to build and fight

TRUTH #7:
WE MUST BUILD WEEPINGLY - WITH HEARTFELT PASSION

• He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall
doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Psalms 126:6

•• More than duty, delight
•• More than position, passion
•• More than method, mission
